As I admitted in the last post, I have a sims addiction. I have joined lots of SIms community's but to my dismay, I can't just add an avatar to The Sims Daily Forum, without having the photo gewt a url. So here I am abusing you just to upload a avatar! Evil!

So here it is.

Fried

My brain (and fingers) have been fried, which is why I've been AWOL the last month. I had exams to study for, then I worked at a bustling market for a while. Yay! You think - Photo's of market stuff. No. I was so busy I didn't get to get my camera out, and I hardly saw the market at all. NOT doing that again. I did make some good cash though. But it is really too painful for what I end up getting.

So here, I am back. I must admit that I got back to reality on Saturday, but I have such a Sims addiction that I've just been playing and creating Simmie Stuff that I just didn't give myself time to post here. I have missed it though. I wonder if anyone missed me?

Experience: It was the best day! I can only say it was thrilling. I was so terrified when i rode the Ostrich, and apparently someone commented "watch her mullet blowing!". I don't have a mullet, but When i was very small my hair was cut pixie style. When I started growing it, it KIND OF look mullet-ISH.

The First Tour Day

I'm gonna categorize these  post day-by-day, of a week long tour.

Here is Google Maps so that you can see where my different destinations are.

We Went to Hartenbos in the Western-Cape, South Africa on the first day.

This was our schedule:

6:30  Wake up
7:00   Religion (Pray etc)
7:15   Breakfast
8:15   Depart
9:00   Redberry Farm (check out this unmissable place here)
13:00 Lunch
14:00 Hartenbos Waterworld & Heated swimming pool (also see here *sorry the site is in afrikaans* )

What I can basically tell you out my own experience, it was so fun. The Strawberry picking was amazing with there being this huge maze inside where you can delightfully get lost in, and the Waterworld was daringly thrilling!  I never want to grow up!

Excuses and apologies

Now, I realize that I am a Scum for not writing on here for 10 days. But in my dogged defense  I went on a tour and when I came back, I was sent off to school. THEN, the electricity went off. Capoosh. Then, when it came back on, it started raining. The rain broke our Wireless transmitter. Now (for how long?) everything is back to normal.

Now, I shall relate my amazeballs tour. I've labeled this post under #southcapetour so click on the label underneath to see my whole journey. It's so good to write again!

Bum Muffles

As you all probably know by now, I post about the most random topics that have ever surfaced into my mind. Here is a particularly weird early morning quirk.
Whilst my family and I were having our after breakfast tea, this dialogue was present...

Charlotta: My bum muffles hurt...
Oops! Bum Muscles...

Mother: Muffles... A silent fart! (uproarious laughter)
SBD!

Sister: Like when you think the cat or dog has done it!

Why have I told you this? Because I honestly don't think you will read it anywhere else.

Bum Muffles!

ps. I'm sorry if this offends some old bags - get over yourself!

My Dream

Last Night I had a puzzling dream...
This is all true. No Lie.

My mother was training me as a swimmer. We were at a gala at a lake in Africa. I was fast, so I came first. Whilst I was waiting for my competitors to finish, I noticed a old man who had given up and was flailing about on a orange dingy. I asked my mother what his name was, and she replied with a strange, "Figs". I started swimming towards him, but before I could shout for help, another dingy with a wild, psychopathic woman was speeding towards me! In a very dream-like fashion, when she hit me, I flopped onto the dingy and rode with her. I looked at her suspiciously and hoped she would not abduct me in the process.  When I turned around, I saw we were heading to a watery doom!. In front of us, Figs was doing 360 degree turns at high speed. When we connected  I got squished between the two boats, turning around and around. Again and Again.

And then it ended.

Bran Muffins :)

Recipe for Bran Muffins:

Makes 12

Ingredients

  • 750 ml bran
  • 250 ml warm "rooibos" (SA tea, which translates to "red tea", try any fancy tea to your taste)
  • 180 ml brown sugar
  • 100 ml canola-oil
  • 250 ml cake flour
  • 250 - 375 ml whole wheat flour
  • pinch salt
  • 125 ml currants (which I didn't use :)
  • 125 ml bashed pecan nuts
  • 12 ml bicarbonate of soda
  • 60 ml buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 60 ml sesame seeds
  • 60 ml roasted sunflower seeds

Now, Work!

Preheat the oven to 180 C and spray a muffin tin which has 12 hollows

1. Mix the Bran, oil, tea and sugar in a big bowl and leave aside.

2.Mix the cake flour, whole wheat flour, salt, currants and nuts. Then add this to the bran mix.

"Koek Meel" means cake flour in Afrikaans

Which we crushed in a coffee grinder

 3. Dissolve the soda in the buttermilk, then add the eggs. till you get...

4. Mix the bran mix and the buttermilk/eggs together. Don't "mix too much", cause otherwise the muffins get big tunnels.

5. Scoop it into the muffin tin till 2/3 full. Sprinkle the seeds on top and bake for 15 - 20 minutes, until ready.

Crayons!

As you can see, I've been reading CraftGawker!

Recycled Crayon Tutorial

Gather your supplies.
diy recycled crayon tutorial
Peel your crayons (this is the horrible part!). Separate crayons by color.
Put each color in its own can. If you mix them in this step, you’ll get an ugly brown color.
Preheat oven to 300*F.
recycled crayon tutorial
Put cans of crayons on a cookie sheet, just in case they spill. Trust me, melted crayon stuck to the oven does not smell good.

Bake for 10 minutes, longer if necessary. The crayons will be liquid when they’re ready to use.
diy crayon project
Quickly and carefully pour your crayons into the molds you have set out. Spray them with cooking spray ahead of time if you find they are sticking. You can use silicone molds, or plastic candy/chocolate molds for this step.

After about 15 minutes, set the crayons in the freezer* to harden if you’re in a hurry. Flip the mold over and the crayons should pop right out.
*Note: This can make your crayons brittle, so if you have the time and patience to let them sit out on the counter and cool, do it that way.
diy princess crayons recycled
The best part about this project is finding different molds to use. You can make crayons in every shape you can imagine – from brains to princesses, they've used lots of recycled crayons!

The Owl and the Pussycat

My sister's favorite poem, happens to be this great lovely nonsense. Read and enjoy!

                The Owl and the Pussy-Cat

The Owl and the Pussy-Cat went to sea
   In a beautiful pea-green boat:
They took some honey, and plenty of money
Wrapped up in a five-pound note.
The Owl looked up to the stars above,
And sang to a small guitar,
"O lovely Pussy, O Pussy, my love,
What a beautiful Pussy you are
You are,You are!
What a beautiful Pussy you are!"

Pussy said to the Owl, "You elegant fowl,
   How charmingly sweet you sing!
Oh! let us be married; too long we have tarried,
But what shall we do for a ring?"
They sailed away, for a year and a day,
To the land where the bong-tree grows;
And there in a wood a Piggy-wig stood,
With a ring at the end of his nose,
His nose,His nose,
With a ring at the end of his nose.

"Dear Pig, are you willing to sell for one shilling
Your ring?" Said the Piggy, "I will."
So they took it away, and were married next day
By the turkey who lives on the hill.
They dined on mince and slices of quince,
   Which they ate with a runcible spoon;
And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand,
They danced by the light of the moon,
  The moon,The moon,
They danced by the light of the moon.

Book Card Holder

DIY Book Card Holder

Make your own business card holder from an old book! This looks great, is practical and will take you no more than 15 minutes.
All you need is a book. First you remove the binding cover by hand, you should be able to tear it off gently. Then you fold every page in half toward the gutter. You now get twice the thickness on each page and the book will automatically spread out in the shape of a half-cylinder. That’s all!

I think that it would work great for reminders, notes, recipes, birthday cards, ideas, anything really!

Evening Decor #2

As I Stumbled on, I came upon this from 36 Avenue. I. WOULD. MARRY. CANDLES.

Water Balloon Luminaries

A fun and easy project with a beautiful payoff. Learn how to make these Balloon Luminaries.
You Will Need:
High-Melt Paraffin Wax (IGI 1260)
Party Balloons
Double Boiler
Cookie Sheet

1. Fill a balloon with tepid water.

2. Melt your wax. Optimum working temperature for this project is 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Try to maintain this temperature for your wax while working by keeping it on a double boiler.

3. Slowly dip your balloon into the wax  to just below the water level in the balloon. Warning: Do not dip the balloon into the wax past the water level. This could cause the balloon to pop.

4. Hold the balloon in the wax for a few seconds, and then slowly lift it out of the wax. Dip the balloon a few more times, allowing some time between dips to let the wax cool.
5. While it is still quite warm, carefully set the balloon down onto a piece of paper or a cookie sheet, making sure it is level. This will create a flat bottom for the luminary.

6. Dip your balloon a few more times until it is the desired thickness. A good target thickness is 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch.

7. Set the balloon on the paper or cookie sheet again and let it cool.

8. When the wax is completely cooled, hold the balloon over a sink or bucket, facing away from you. Carefully pop the balloon with a skewer or knife and let the water drain out. Throw away the balloon shards.
9. To level the top of the luminary, heat a cookie sheet on the stove and place the luminary top-down onto the hot sheet and carefully melt the edges until it is level.

10. Place a tea light or votive inside the luminary and burn on a candle holder in a dark area.
